Hi all, this document deals with error insufficient data in cloud watch.
Amazon CloudWatch is a monitoring and management service built for developers, system operators, site reliability engineers (SRE), and IT managers. Monitor and Track AWS Apps and Gain System-Wide Utilization Visibility. Monitor Custom Metrics. Monitor and Store Logs. Set Alarms. System-Wide Visibility.

By default Amazon cloud watch monitoring interval is 5 minutes, There are certain cases you need detailed monitoring on the servers, so you have to reduce the interval timing less than 5 minutes.

So I have seen many people who say about this error when they change the monitoring interval changes from default 5 minutes. So now let’s see the solution for this.

Step 1: Create the Alarm for the Metrics which you want to Monitor
Step 2: In the Alarm configuration of the CloudWatch make the interval as 1 minute
Step 3: Once you created the Alarm you will be receiving the below error “insufficient DATA”

Step 4: In order to rectify this issue goto instance the which you want Monitor and click on Actions and Select Enable detailed monitoring.
NOTE: Enabling the detailed monitoring charge you extra cost.
here is the sample image for Enabling detailed monitoring.

Once you enable Detailed monitoring insufficient DATA error will disappear after some moment.
