Sublime is a popular and widely used text editor that supports multiple programming languages. It is a popular text editor between the developers. It includes wide features such as Syntax Highlight, Auto Indentation, File Type Recognition, Sidebar, Macros, Plug-in and Packages that make it easy for working with the codebase.

We can install Sublime through two ways in Ubuntu.

  • Through snapd
  • Through PPA

Install Sublime through snapd

We can install Sublime-text latest version through below command.

sudo snap install sublime-text --classic 

After some time it will be installed and sublime will be ready to use.

Install Sublime with PPA

We can install Sublime from their Official Apt repository. First, we will import gpg key to our system through below command.

wget -qO - | sudo apt-key add -

Now, let’s add the Sublime text Apt PPA in our Ubuntu system by below command.

echo "deb apt/stable/" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/sublime-text.list 

Now we will install sublime through below command.

sudo apt install sublime-text 

Once the above command finished. Sublime will be installed on our system. Search “Sublime” under all applications.

Once we access Sublime, we will be able to view this screen.
