Install RoboMongo (Robo 3T) on Ubuntu 18.041 min read

Robo3T formerly known as RobMongo is one of best GUI tools for the managing and querying MongoDB database.

Follow below steps to install Robo 3T using terminal

Step 1: Goto

Step 2: Select Linux and click on download link

Step 3: Create robomongo directory using below command

$ /usr/local/bin/robomongo

Step 4: Move file to /usr/local/bin using below command

$ sudo mv robo3t-1.3.1-linux-x86_64-7419c406.tar.gz /usr/local/bin/robomongo

Step 5: goto robomongo directory using below command

$ cd /usr/local/bin/robomonogo

Step 6: Untar file

$ sudo tar -xvzf robo3t-1.3.1-linux-x86_64-7419c406.tar.gz

Step 7:
Execute robo 3t file using below command

$ ./robo3t 

Step 8: Agree to condition and enter required detail.

    /usr/local/bin is a directory reserved for binary files. The right place to place the source code should be /usr/local/lib and a simlink to the /usr/local/lib placed at /usr/local/bin or maybe /usr/share/ with a simlink at the /usr/bin folder

    i tried to run sudo ./robo3t from robo3t folder and it’s not working. i don’t know why.

    robo3t may be located in subdirectory /bin, so use ./bin/robo3t
