How to install i2p in Ubuntu
Hi techrunnr subscribers, Today we will show you how to install i2p in ubuntu.
I2P is an anonymous overlay network – a network within a network. It is intended to protect communication from dragnet surveillance and monitoring by third parties such as ISPs.
I2P is used by many people who care about their privacy: activists, oppressed people, journalists and whistleblowers, as well as the average person.
No network can be “perfectly anonymous”. The continued goal of I2P is to make attacks more and more difficult to mount. Its anonymity will get stronger as the size of the network increases and with ongoing academic review.
I2P is available on desktops, embedded systems (like the Raspberry Pi) and Android phones. Help spread the word!
1. Open a terminal and enter:
sudo apt-add-repository ppa:i2p-maintainers/i2p
This command will add the PPA to /etc/apt/sources.list.d and fetch the gpg key that the repository has been signed with. The GPG key ensures that the packages have not been tampered with since being built.
Notify your package manager of the new PPA by entering:
2. Update your system
sudo apt-get update
This command will retrieve the latest list of software from each repository that is enabled on your system, including the I2P PPA that was added with the earlier command.
3. Install i2p using the following command
sudo apt-get install i2p
4. Start i2p
This command will initiates the browser to open.
Have a safe anonymous browsing !!!!!!!
