Hi All, this document deals with how to install ansible from source
Ansible is open source software that automates software provisioning, configuration management, and application deployment. Ansible connects via SSH, remote PowerShell or via other remote APIs.


Update your System

apt update

Install the dependency packages

apt install make git make python-setuptools gcc python-dev libffi-dev libssl-dev python-packaging

Clone the git repository

git clone git://github.com/ansible/ansible.git

cd ansible

Check the stable branch

git branch -a | grep stable

Check out the stable version

git checkout stable-2.7

Compile and install the latest version

make install

Now you can check the version of ansible by executing the below command.

└──╼ $ansible --version
ansible 2.7.4.post0
config file = /etc/ansible/ansible.cfg
configured module search path = [u'/home/prabhin/.ansible/plugins/modules', u'/usr/share/ansible/plugins/modules']
ansible python module location = /usr/local/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/ansible-2.7.4.post0-py2.7.egg/ansible
executable location = /usr/local/bin/ansible
python version = 2.7.15+ (default, Aug 31 2018, 11:56:52) [GCC 8.2.0]
